How to connect the Reflow Oven controller

The board is Shield for Arduino. It has 2x16 blue display with white backlight and option for contrast adjustment. It has and two relays - 25A, with them you can control up to 4500 Watts for each. Thеre is three control buttons, 2 LEDs showing satus of the process of soldering and audible buzzer.

 

     Reflow Oven Controller Shield connects to the Arduino through its holdings of terminals. Plugin is in front on Arduino pin as against each other, then push each other while connected. The pins is so arranged that the plugin is connected to the Arduino only one way and there is no danger of confusing direction, however, look at the pictures of the article so as not to make a mistake.

Pins that are used are marked in red, others in two pieces on the left side of the picture are left unused.

    • Power supply is shared by Arduino pins to the Controller and do not require additional power supply for it, ie when powering Arduino with 12 volt power supply and at the same time you supply and Shield. Also you can supply Arduino using the USB cable, USB-MiniUSB
    • SSR relays have four terminals. Two of them control relay (from 3 to 36 volts), the other are for power Heatres and Fan. Relay control circuit is connected to the board via jumpers (short wires) observing polarity. High voltage relay contacts are connected in series circuit that will cntrol (oven heaters or fan - if the oven has one). Polarity in the control circuit is irrelevant, simply connect the relay series circuit breakers as usual. The relays can be mounted as the appropriate place for them on the board or use external heatsink  (depending on the wattage of the heater of the oven). You can mount the heatsink of the back side of the board behind the relay.
    • Two pins pinout is for connecting thermocouple type "K". Observe polarity connection or else you will always have opposite direction of the temperature change, ie at elevated temperatures the device will register a decrease of the temp.
    • Two-line display shows the oven temperature and shows the current stage of the process of soldering.
    • Trimmer is designed to adjust the brightness of the display symbols.
    • On / Off and Restart Buttons control the whole process module. Additional third button is currently not used, it is for future applications in software updates or for your own additions to the software that you make.
    • LEDs and beeper further facilitate adoption when the program works and what phase of soldering is.
    • LEDs of relays indicate when the relay is On or Off.

After connecting the Oven Controller and Arduino remains to attach and manage your oven. Linking is done successful when heating element and fan (if any) are contacted with SSR relays. (If you do not have a fan in the oven you can do SSR FAN to manage light bulb inside the oven or leave it unused. If you change the source code of your own choice, you make it work for any other purpose idea for whatever you think of). The poweingr of the oven is made by 12 volt stabilized adapter that powers Arduino from its socket. The Controller itself is powered by Arduino from it pins, ie do not need a separate power supply for it.
